by Steven Skelley & Thomas Routzong
For more than 50 years, Pink Jeep Tours have been providing "off-road family adventures" in the American Southwest. They offer more than a dozen tours from Las Vegas alone! If you are in Las Vegas and have always dreamed of seeing the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, the Hoover Dam, Death Valley, Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of Fire, Pink Jeep Tours is the perfect choice.
Pink Jeep Tours will pick you up at your hotel in one of their Pink Tour Trekkers - a luxurious yet rugged, bright pink, all-terrain vehicle that seats 10 passengers comfortably creating "an intimate small group experience" so much better than the large busload, cookie-cutter tours. Each Tour Trekker includes reclining leather captain seats, 15-inch DVD players, large tinted windows for unparalleled viewing, cross compartment A/C venting and foam insulated walls for a quieter ride and climate control.
The Pink Jeep Grand Canyon South Rim Tour is an informative and scenic 13 hour adventure. The drivers / guides are knowledgeable, safety conscious and outgoing. Our journey began with pick-up right at our hotel door, took us through the Mojave Desert, along historic Route 66, to Williams, Arizona (an old railroad town along the Old Santa Fe Railway), and through "the beautiful mountains and Ponderosa pine forests of the Coconino Plateau en route to the Grand Canyon."
Once we arrived at the South Rim, we had approximately three hours to enjoy the stunning scenery and take photographs. Our guide led us on a narrated tour that included lunch at a restaurant right on the rim. We were transported to multiple of the viewing areas along the Rim Trail and treated to "panoramic views of the widest and deepest parts of the Grand Canyon." We also enjoyed incredible views from the historic Kolb Studio which appears to hang precariously on the edge of the rim itself. Inside is a gift shop, viewing platform and a museum honoring the Kolb brothers who built the structure in 1904 and are famous for their Grand Canyon photography. After a relaxing ride back to Las Vegas, we were all dropped off right at our hotels.
The Pink Jeep Red Rock Canyon Tour is an easy to handle 4 hours from the time they pick you up at your hotel until they drop you off again. Red Rock Canyon is located on State Route 159 just 17 miles west of the Las Vegas Strip. Its' 195,819 acres of beautiful rock formations are visited by more than one million people each year and often selected as the backdrop for movies and commercials.
Red Rock Canyon offers "a 13-mile scenic drive, more than 30 miles of hiking trails, rock climbing, horseback riding, mountain biking, road biking, picnic areas, nature observing and visitor center with exhibit rooms and a book store," according to the Bureau of Land Management. With wild horses, bighorn sheep, and wild burros roaming free and ancient Native American pictographs, Red Rock Canyon area is one of the most beautiful areas in Nevada. The Visitor Center is modern and yet somehow fits seamlessly into the landscape. It features educational exhibits, a desert tortoise habitat and gift shop.
The Pink Jeep Red Rock Canyon Tour follows the 13-mile scenic drive to "view the Wilson Cliffs, part of the 65-million-year-old Keystone Thrust. Numerous geological features abound, including the fossilized sand dunes of the brilliantly colored Calico Hills." We made numerous stops to view and photograph this amazing natural scenery and the rock climbers scaling the cliffs. Red Rock Canyon is a photographer's dream come true and Pink Jeep Tours is a great way to see it. Visit http://www.pinkjeep.com/jeep-tours/lasvegas for more info.
