Question: What happens when you place a beautiful and historic bed and breakfast right in the center of one of Florida's most popular shopping, entertainment and restaurant districts?
Answer: You get the delightful Palm Beach Hibiscus Bed & Breakfast in trendy West Palm Beach, Florida.
If you like the feel of staying in a historic accommodation, you will definitely appreciate the history of the Palm Beach Hibiscus which was originally two historic houses built in 1917 but relocated to their current location in 1996.
Even though the exterior of the homes maintain their historic charm, the interiors have been updated with every modern convenience and comfort.
The Main House contains "four beautifully appointed rooms including an ADA accessible room." Breakfast is served each morning in the dining room and wine and cheese are served each afternoon on the roomy and comfortable front porch that is perfect for people watching.
The Courtyard House also contains four rooms including pet friendly rooms and the luxurious Hibiscus Suite.
Both houses are registered in the National Register of Historic Places.
The property is managed by partners Michael Friedel and Mark Edwards. Both have extensive experience in both owning and operating resorts.
"The Palm Beach Hibiscus is your home away from home, we hope that we meet every guests expectations, no request is beyond our creative thinking," Michael told us.
Guest Rooms include the Gardenia Suite, Hibiscus Suite, Rosemary Suite, Clematis Room, Datura Room, Evernia Room, Fern Room, and the Veranda Room.
Guest-room amenities include Complimentary full breakfast, Individual climate control, High speed Internet, Telephone, Ceiling fans, Private entrance and porch, Cable television, Hair dryer, Iron and board, Coffee maker/wet bar, Bath toiletries/fluffy towels, Luxurious bathrobes, and DVD players are available upon request.
"We pride ourselves in going the extra mile to ensure a wonderful stay," Mark told us.
Between the Main House and the Courtyard House is the popular Backyard Bar and a "lush tropical courtyard, the perfect place to host corporate gatherings, weddings, birthdays, or holiday parties"
The Backyard Bar hosts special music events including jazz nights, karaoke, drag shows and the Signature Jazz Brunch which is served each Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
"In season our drag show brings in 60 to 70 people. Gay, straight, families - everyone joins together for a good time," Michael said.
Food for the Backyard Bar is prepared by Master Chef Michael Ober whose "culinary skills have developed over 20 years working in 5 star hotels & elite restaurants in Europe, earning Michelin Stars."
The allure of the Palm Beach Hibiscus doesn't stop with all of the on-site amenities. The property is located right in the heart of the West Palm Beach's most popular shopping, entertainment and restaurant districts. In fact, it is centrally located right between the upscale CityPlace and the restaurant-row of Clematis Street.
And - if you don't feel like walking the two to three blocks to either location, you are in luck - there is a free trolley that stops right in front of the Palm Beach Hibiscus!
"You don't need a car, we provide free parking during your stay, the trolley stop is right out front and everything we like to do, is right here," Mark told us.
CityPlace is an upscale dining, entertainment and shopping district stretching for several city blocks. It boasts such brands as Macy's, Muvico Parisian 20, IMAX, LA Fitness, Publix, Panera Bread, Cheesecake Factory, Brio Tuscan Grille, Sloan's Ice Cream, Starbucks, Moe's and even the Revolutions bowling alley. CityPlace includes "80 shops, 20 restaurants, 20-screen Muvico cinema and a 1920s church adapted to serve as a multi-purpose cultural center."
The historic Clematis District offers "a creative, funky, eclectic mix of restaurants and shops, plus more than 10,000 residences, live/work lofts and luxury condominiums. Dining is an international experience where patrons may sample flavors from around the world while stores are a mix of national brands and homegrown favorites."
The Palm Beach Hibiscus management team has a unique understanding of the needs of LGBT travelers. "As a gay couple, we understand and appreciate diversity, we support individual choices, and appreciate the unique opportunity that we have at The Palm Beach Hibiscus," Michael said.
