Hot Air Balloon Festivals
Where to find hot air balloon festivals around the world

By Steven Skelley and Thomas Routzong

Hot Air Balloon festivals are an incredible sight! Imagine yourself walking among hundreds of enormous colorful creations and watching as they rise into the air and slowly glide through the skies overhead.

According to eBalloon.org, Hot Air Balloons have been sailing the skies since September 1783 when a scientist  named Pilatre De Rozier launched the first hot air balloon called Aerostat Reveillon with the passengers of a sheep, a duck and a rooster.  The balloon stayed in the air for 15 minutes.

Today, hot air ballooning is enjoyed by thousands of enthusiasts around the world.

Hundreds of balloon festivals are held around the world each year.
