Sept. 19: Swim for Alligator Lighthouse. Islamorada. This 9-mile tropical open-water race draws some 400 swimmers to attempt a roundtrip feat to Alligator Light solo or on two- or four-person relay teams. The swim increases awareness of treasured historic lighthouses on Florida's coastal waterways and benefits Friends of the Pool in Islamorada.
